Sustainability in Parking Services
Virginia Tech’s Parking Services has incorporated green initiatives into annual goals and current and future projects.

- In addition to the fuel efficient vehicles mentioned in the news stories above, Parking Services also has a bicycle used by Parking Enforcement officers to patrol campus. (Click on photo for full size)
- Parking Services coordinates with Site Development to manage storm water runoff in local watershed. Virginia Tech must be proactive in both reducing the total amount of runoff and improving the water quality of the remaining runoff.
- Parking Services also plays a vital role in supporting the Alternative Transportation programs on campus. The handling of Commuter Alternative Program permits, carpool permits, bike registration, and other administrative duties has made it possible to have award winning commuting options for Virginia Tech employees and students.
- When old asphalt is milled (removed by grinding it up) it is typically recycled and mixed in with new asphalt.
